The chairman-cum-managing director of PSPCL,K D Chaudhri,on Wednesday said that Punjab did not overdraw as much as the other states did. In the first failure,the frequency of the grid was 50.46 Hz and Punjab was overdrawing by 5.5 per cent whereas Haryana was overdrawing by 25.5 per cent and UP by 20.8 per cent. Due to availability of start up power from BBMB,PSPCL was able to bring normalcy in state power supply by 8 am on July 31 during the first failure.
Chaudhri informed that frequency at the time of the second failure was 49.7 Hz and Punjab was overdrawing by 1.2 percent,Haryana by 22.4 percent and UP by 6.4 per cent.
Chaudhri informed that PSPCL had arranged for short-term power purchases of 3,200 MU well in advance,and a further 1,100 MW after deficient rains.
He informed that Warning-C by NRLDC which is considered serious was not given to Punjab between July 10 to 17,whereas UP had been given the warning four times,PSPCL overdrew well within limits.
