Four hardcore naxalites arrested

Four hardcore naxalites were arrested in Belhar and Amarpur of Bihar.

Four hardcore naxalites were arrested and arms and ammunition seized from their possession in Belhar and Amarpur areas of Bihar’s Banka district,police said today.

Following a tip-off,police conducted raids on various hideouts under Amarpur and Belhar police station and arrested the four,Superintendent of Police Shyam Kumar said.

A pistol,40 cartridges of SLR,Rs 50,000 in cash,two motorcycles and Naxal literature were seized from the possession of the ultras — Geeta Murmu,Vinod Murmu,Ranjit Roy and Taro Mondal,Kumar said.

They were wanted in as many as 35 cases of naxal-related violence in Munger,Banka,Bhagalpur and Jamui districts of Bihar,the SP said.

He said the four have confessed that they were involved in an encounter with the police in Kajra forests of Lakhisarai district in September.

They have also revealed that they had planned to kill the then Social Justice Minister Damodar Rawat and Khadagpur DSP K Chandra,but their bid failed,the SP said.
