Another ‘fake’ lawyer surfaces in Pune,6th in year-and-half

The Bundgarden police on Sunday arrested a 34-year-old man for allegedly using the name of a practising lawyer to issue title and search reports to many financial institutions in Pune.

The Bundgarden police on Sunday arrested a 34-year-old man for allegedly using the name of a practising lawyer to issue title and search reports to many financial institutions in Pune. In the last year-and-a-half,this is sixth case of a bogus lawyer being arrested from the city.

The suspect,Amitkumar Dawar,hails from Haryana and is a resident of Chandan Nagar. Sachin Ingule,a lawyer based in Guruwar Peth,approached the police after he learnt through an acquaintance that Dawar had been using his name,said an officer. Dawar was using forged letterheads and stamps bearing Ingule’s name,the police said,adding that he had also forged his signature to work for clients at sub registrars’ offices. Assistant inspector Ashok Randive said,“We have booked Dawar for cheating and forgery. He will be produced before the court on Monday. We have come to know that Dawar issued many search and title reports to financial institutions for clients to secure loans on properties.”

Ingule said,“Dawar had come to me with a client two years ago. He must have forged the letterhead and stamp from the documents that I gave him at that time. He also worked as a lawyer for many people at various sub-registrars’ offices,chiefly at the one in Haveli. A person who knew Dawar told me that he had been using my name.”
