West Bengal elections: EC registers FIR against two TMC candidates

EC officials said FIRs have been registered against both of them by the district authorities as per instructions from the Commission.

The Election Commission Thursday registered FIRs against two Trinamool Congress candidates in Cooch Behar district for allegedly interfering with the electoral process and threatening polling personnel.

TMC candidate from Natabari, Rabindranath Ghosh, faced the poll panel’s ire after it was found that he violated the secrecy of vote by entering the voting compartment when polling was going on for the sixth and last phase, the officials said.

He is also alleged to have issued threats to the presiding officer in the booth.

Another Trinamool candidate Udyan Guha from Dinahata attracted action for allegedly violating secrecy of vote by entering polling compartment and for obstructing police officials from discharging their duty.
