LOOKING TO make inroads in Uttar Pradesh, Janata Dal (United) president and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday claimed that his party would play an important role in the politics of UP after it succeeds in the 2017 Assembly polls, thanks to the 'good governance' model of Bihar. Addressing a political convention in OBC-dominated Phoolpur area of Allahabad district, Nitish highlighted the programmes that the Bihar government is running for welfare of poor, Dalits, backwards and Muslims. [related-post] He said his party meetings in UP have already disturbed the BJP and Samajwadi Party, who have started giving representation — in government and organisation — to those castes whose welfare has been taken care of by the Bihar government.
