AAP says no to Vaiko’s request for support

Days after MDMK chief Vaiko approached AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal, seeking ‘moral support’ to the five-party combine of DMDK and People’s Welfare Alliance, including MDMK, CPM, CPI and VCK, AAP state-in-charge Somnath Bharti Friday declined his request, citing a need for “change” in the “present system”.

In a letter dated March 31, Vaiko wrote to Kejriwal, “You and your party have proved… that your crusade against corruption has attained spectacular success… I am confident of electoral victory of our alliance. I would say that once AAP extends moral support to the Front, we will win hands down…”

Though Kejriwal refrained from replying to Vaiko directly, Bharti wrote to him Friday , “AAP has keenly been watching the political developments in Tamil Nadu… AAP believes that present system needs to be changed. In this context, it won’t be possible to extend support to any alliance/party in Tamil Nadu….”
