Pakistan troops violated ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir at midnight Tuesday, a Defence spokesperson told PTI. They resorted to mortar shelling and firing on Indian posts along the Line of Control in Poonch.

“The Pakistan army troops resorted to unprovoked and indiscriminate firing on Indian army posts along LoC in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir since midnight,” the Defence spokesperson said adding that, “Our troops are responding appropriately and no casualties or damage to our troops was reported till the report last came in. The firing was still going on.”

The exchange of fire is going intermittently in Shahpur Kandi area along LoC in Poonch, police said.

This comes days after Pakistani troops on Friday violated border ceasefire by resorting to small arms firing along the LOC in Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir. While there had been no loss of life or injury to anyone on the Indian side of the border in Friday’s attack, more details of Tuesday’s attack are still awaited.
