NDA govt’s two yrs: Central, Western Railways plan weeklong events

The various themes would look at implementing cleanliness drive across stations, inspecting catering establishments and also travelling with commuters to hear their grievances.

To mark the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government’s completion of two years, the Central and Western Railways together would host a weeklong celebration to highlight their achievements. Called ‘Rail Hamsafar Saptaah’, the railways would focus on a particular theme everyday from May 26 to June 1 — Swachhata Diwas, Satkar Diwas, Sewa Diwas, Satarkata Diwas, Saamanjasya Diwas, Sanyojan Diwas and Sanchaar Diwas.

The various themes would look at implementing cleanliness drive across stations, inspecting catering establishments and also travelling with commuters to hear their grievances. Inspection of railway staff colonies and freight traffic would also be part of the event.

Ravinder Bhakar, spokesperson, Western Railway, said, “The purpose is to bring forward the works of railways and conduct drives for passenger satisfaction. We will also be sanctioning a few more projects related to passenger amenities this week.”
