Jan Adhikar Party chief Rajesh Ranjan
Madhepura MP and Jan Adhikar Party chief Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav Monday said that “Mahishasur was a symbol of those rising against exploitation”. He said this while addressing a public meet in Saharsa.
“There has been too much politics in the name of nationalism, religious and emotional issues. Mahishasur is brought into debate. Mahishasur had only stood up against exploitation. He stands as a symbol of only those who rise against exploitation. It is a tragedy that when the poor rise against oppression and exploitation, they are called Mahishasur,” said Yadav, who recently extended support to JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar and also visited his Bihat home.

The MP, who has made a string of controversial statements in the last few days, also asked for an end to politics in the name of the national flag.
Later speaking to The Indian Express, he said: “Have I said anything wrong or irrational? There has been an attempt to exploit people by invoking emotional issues. Mahishasur and national flag symbols are being exploited by politicians….There have been protests involving the flag in various forms from time to time… Enough of using the flag as symbolism. Let there be discussion on real issues.”
