J&K: Mob kills man, severely injures another in Katra

Identifying the victims as Rahul and Abhishek, both residents of Udhampur, sources said that they were rushed to Government Medical College Hospital at Jammu.

A 21-year old man was beaten to death and another severely injured by few villagers when they allegedly sneaked into the house of a local man at Bhagta near Katra town during wee hours of Sunday.

Identifying the victims as Rahul and Abhishek, both residents of Udhampur, sources said that they were rushed to Government Medical College Hospital at Jammu, but the former succumbed to his injuries enroute. The condition of Abhishek is stated to be serious.

The boys had travelled all the way from Udhampur to Bhagta village near Katra where they entered the house of one Uttam Singh around 1 am. Few villagers noticed both the boys entering into the Singh’s house and raised alarm.

As Uttam Singh has a daughter studying in class 12, the villagers started beating the boys resulting in serious injuries to them. Later, they were rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital at Jammu, but one of them breathed his last on the way.

The police have arrested three people on charges of murder and attempt to murder. They have been identified as Pawan Singh, brother of Uttam Singh, besides Kaka Ram and Vikram Singh.
