Jayalalithaa sacks TN minister over private photos on social media

Two days after private photos of Tamil Nadu milk and diary development minister B V Ramana and a woman were circulated on social media, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa removed him from the cabinet Saturday.

Governor K Rosaiah issued a statement announcing Ramana’s removal from the council of ministers. Sources in the AIADMK said he was sacked for causing an “embarrassment” to the party.

Party sources said the woman in the picture is his second wife. Ramana and the woman can be seen posing next to roses and sharing a lighter moment. A senior leader said Jayalalithaa had sought an explanation as party rivals alleged ministers are leading a luxurious life. “He was absent from the assembly on Friday and Saturday. We were told that he took the photo on Valentine’s Day with his wife,” said a senior leader.
