Former Union Minister and senior laywer Ram Jethmalani came down heavily on the Narendra Modi led BJP Government for what he called ‘fooling the people of the country’ and going back on its campaign promise of bringing the black money stashed in tax heavens. Jethmalani has repeatedly attacked PM Modi and his party for not doing enough on the issue of black money.

Talking at a “National Seminar on Hospital and Health Care Management” at Symbiosis International University in Pune, Jethmalani who was a guest of honour, said, “Throughout the 2014 election campaign Narendra Modi made a very strong and appealing argument against black money. There is a report of a task force of the BJP itself that $ 1,500 billion from India are stashed abroad. I don’t believe people in Germany are more corrupt than Indians, yet they paid $ 475 million to an employee of the Liechtenstein Bank and got 1,400 names. It was shocking to know that most of the names were of Indians Swiss Bankers Association declared that the majority of the names were of Indians.”

“The German government officially declared that it was willing to share the names with any friendly government, without cost, without condition and nobody from India bothered about it. On top of it, after having won the election, the party president, who has been appointed by Modi, makes a public statement that all this talk of corruption, of getting back the black money from abroad, was an election jumla, a joke,” said Jethmalani taking pot shorts at BJP President Amit Shah.

This was the prime reason, Jethmalani told the gathering of students, medical delegates, faculty members, that he endorsed Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad Yadav during Bihar Assembly Elections.

“I addressed two meetings in Bihar and I told the people of Bihar that they should support Nitish and Lalu because the NDA had betrayed the people and did not deserve their support. I also told them that I was there to seek their forgiveness and told them that Modi had fooled me. Although I had been expelled from the BJP, I worked for him during the 2014 election campaign. They cheated everyone. I hope the people of India teach him a lesson,” said 92-year-old Jethmalani who is a Member of Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan.
