Heroin worth Rs one crore seized, one held in Jammu-Kashmir

Based on a tip-off, police laid a check-post at village Dharra in the district and intercepted a man, identified as Zakir Hussain of Dharra village.

One person was arrested and 500 grammes of heroin worth Rs 1 crore in the international market was found in his possession in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.

“A sealed leather bag with ‘Made in Afghanistan’ stamp containing 500 grams heroin was recovered from the possession of Zakir Hussain who was on way to Doda. It is worth Rs one crore in the international market,” SSP Doda Zahid Naseem Manhas said.

He said that the police was looking for his accomplice namely Talib Hussain, a resident of Doda who handed over the consignment to Zakir.

A case under various sections of NDPS Act has been registered, he said.
