College student hacked to death; two youths held

A 17-year-old Class XII student was allegedly hacked to death on the premises of his college in Talegaon near Pune this morning, district police said.

Two youths allegedly attacked Chetan Pinjan who had gone to the college on his motorbike.

He later succumbed to injuries in a hospital.

A station duty officer at Talegaon police station said they are yet to ascertain the motive behind the attack and said two attackers, who are minor, have been detained in this connection.

“The incident took place at around 11.30 am on the campus of Indrayani College, when two minors, who are apparently not students of the same college, attacked Pinjan with sharp weapons and fled away,” the officer said.

He said Pinjan was taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.

“We are investigating the exact reason behind the attack. However, it seems that they had some previous enmity with the deceased,” he said.

A case of murder has been registered and investigationinto the case is on, police said.
