Sharma alleged that criminal activities were on the rise in the state and that the Samajwadi Party government was “patronising” unscruplous elements and “hesitating” to take action against them.

“There has not been a single day when incidents like snatching, murder, rape have not happened and yet due to the patronage of the state government, the police is either not acting or have been slow to act,” said Sharma.

Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party has dismissed BJP’s agitation as a political gimmick.
