The Hurriyat chairman asked the Centre to give up “its obduracy and stubbornness” and initiate meaningful and result-oriented steps for the resolution of all pending issues between the two countries including “the all important Kashmir dispute”.

Mirwaiz said confrontation and war would lead both countries nowhere and only aggravate the suffering of Kashmiri people.

“Dialogue and engagement are the best means of resolving disputes. It is incumbent upon New Delhi to accept the reality, instead of engaging in altercations,” he added.

Mirwaiz said the unresolved Kashmir dispute is the major threat to peace and prosperity, political stability and fast-track development of not only Jammu Kashmir but India, Pakistan and entire South Asia.
