Hindu Sena chief Vishnu Gupta on Saturday claimed that shots were fired at his car early in the morning while he was on his way to Delhi from Ajmer. According to Ramchandra Chaudhary, the Ajmer Rural Circle Officer, police have initiated a probe after they received a complaint in this regard. According to police, there was a court hearing on January 24 in Ajmer. After the hearing, Vishnu left for Delhi the next day when motorcycle-borne assailants allegedly fired at his car on the Ajmer-Jaipur Highway. “We have inspected the car and found some scratches on a door. We have registered an FIR and the investigation is ongoing. We are searching for the accused,” said Ramchandra. An FSL team has been called to collect samples. Gupta told the police that the bullet hit the rear side door on the driver's side. Speaking to The Indian Express, Gupta said, “The two bike-riders fired at my car. Since it was very early in the morning, it was difficult to see anyone due to low light. When I heard the gunshot, I asked my driver to just speed up the car. When I turned back, I saw the bikers going back.” Gupta said he had been receiving death threats for long and has filed multiple FIRs in Ajmer and Delhi. He said the alleged attack was a "well-planned conspiracy" to silence him and stop him from "taking the dargah case forward". A court in Ajmer on November 27, 2024, had admitted a petition filed by Gupta asking for a survey of the Ajmer Sharif Dargah, the shrine of the revered Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, claiming that there was evidence for the existence of an ancient temple to Lord Shiva at the site. The petition claimed that the debris of a temple was used in the construction of the dargah, citing the book 'Ajmer: Historical and Descriptive', written in 1911 by retired judge Harbilas Sarda. Two hearings have since been held in the case till January 24.
