The petition by BJP leader Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay has contended that use of names with religious connotations or symbols similar to the national flag or emblem might prejudicially affect the poll prospects of a candidate.
The incident took place around 11 am Saturday, when 30-40 men, six of whom have been mentioned by name in the FIR, marched to meat shops at the Dundahera border and forced owners to shut them. Ritu Raj had claimed that 180-200 shops had been closed.
Formed in 2011, the “non-profit organisation” has, in past, protested against talks between India and Pakistan, which culminated with the outfit’s workers vandalising the regional office of the Pakistan International Airlines in Delhi in January 2016.
The national spokesperson and vice-president of the Hindu Sena, claimed, "India would have disintegrated into thousands of pieces had it not been the Britishers, who under the Queen, united a large number of princely states into one entity in 1857."
