
Haryana Budget 2024-25 Highlights: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar proposed a budget worth Rs 1.89 lakh crore for financial year 2024-25 on Friday, up 11 percent from the previous fiscal. The CM also announced a waiver of interest and penalties on those farmers who will deposit their loans by May 2024. The farmer protests at several places along the Punjab-Haryana border include a demand for a waiver of farm loans.
In other news, the Haryana Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday adopted a resolution lauding the consecration at the new Ram temple in Ayodhya with the principal Opposition Congress supporting it. Haryana is the third BJP-ruled state after Gujarat and Goa to pass a resolution hailing the Ram temple construction.
Moving the resolution on the second day of the ongoing Budget session of the House, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, said, “Lord Ram serves as both an inspiration and a guide for us. Merely discussing his ideals reminds us of the lofty principles of public service established by Lord Ram, which greatly strengthen our democracy today.”
CM Khattar announces scheme to provide subsidy, interest-free loans to gig workers on e-scooter purchase
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday announced a new scheme providing subsidy and interest-free loans on e-scooter puchases by gig workers. While highlighting that the gig workers had emerged as an important element of the service sector, Khattar said that the scheme would provide a subsidy of Rs 5000 and an interest-free loan with credit guarantee for an amount of Rs 45,000 or the actual ex-showroom price, whichever is less, to a gig worker for purchase of an electric scooter. Any gig worker registered in Parivar Pehchan Patra (family id) and on e-shram and belonging to a family with an annual income of up to Rs 1.80 lakh can avail the subsidy, the chief minister said.
Haryana govt to take care of expenses if girls decide to enrol in private colleges: CM Khattar
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday said that apart from government colleges, if girls decide to enrol in private colleges too, the state government would bear the expense incurred, news agency ANI reported. "Of the 72 colleges, we built last time, half of the colleges are for women and even if our daughters go to private colleges, the Haryana govt will take care of the expenses," the chief minister said. He further said, "We had last time announced that there will be a college within every 20 km so that none of our daughters have to travel more than 10 km to study, we have achieved that target." Haryana govt announces 1000 km free travel in Haryana Roadways to nearly 22 lakh families
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced 1000 km of free travel in Haryana Roadways to almost 22.89 lakh families, which have an annual income of Rs. 1 lakh. The scheme, benefiting about 84 lakh people, will incur an estimated expenditure of Rs. 600 crore, the chief minister said.

Stubble burning declined by 67% in last 2 years: CM Khattar
On stubble burning, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar said, “Under the scheme to prevent stubble burning and reduce pollution, 1 lakh 56 thousand farmers registered for the management of 14 lakh acres and an incentive amount of Rs 139 crore was provided to the farmers during the year 2023-24. In 2023-24, stubble burning cases also declined by 67 per cent to 2,303 over the previous two years, while 6,987 were recorded in 2021-22."

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday presented the budget for financial year 2024-25 with an allocation of Rs 1.89 lakh crore, more than 11 per cent from the previous fiscal.
Khattar, who also holds the finance portfolio, said, "For 2024-25, I propose a budget of Rs 1,89,876.61 crore which is 11.37 per cent more than Rs 1,70,490.84 crore (revised estimates) of 2023-24." It is the fifth budget of the BJP-JJP government.
While presenting the budget, Khattar said his government took many steps for the welfare of farmers, while adding that the government was giving a minimum support price on 14 crops. PTI
'Drone didis' to be trained for agricultural work: CM Khattar
Haryana will train females to operate drones for agricultural work. They will be called "drone didis". The state will also make provisions to provide them drones, which may be given on rent for agricultural purposes. Additionally, an amount of Rs 178 crore of ‘Bhavantar Sahayata’ has been deposited directly into the accounts of farmers.'
