The Union government Friday slashed the export duty on three categories of rice from 20 per cent to 10 per cent.
A notification to this effect was issued by the Ministry of Finance late Friday. “This notification shall come into force with immediate effect,” it states.
As per the notification, the export duty on rice in the husk (paddy or rough), husked (brown) rice and parboiled rice has been reduced from 20 per cent to 10 per cent.
Besides, the export duty on ‘Semi-milled or wholly-milled rice, whether or not polished or glazed (other than Parboiled rice and Basmati rice) has been reduced to “nil” from the current rate of 20 per cent.
