Former RJD MLC Sunil Kumar Singh alleged on Monday that he was “forcibly evicted” from his government bungalow in Patna on Sunday in what he said was “another act of revenge”. Singh, a senior RJD leader said to be close to party chief Lalu Prasad, was expelled as MLC last July for allegedly mimicking Bihar Chief Minister Kumar during a speech in the Legislative Council. The RJD leader alleged that his belongings, including portraits of Lalu Prasad, were thrown out of the bungalow. “First, I was expelled for criticising the CM. Now, the government has thrown out my belongings from the government bungalow at Gardanibagh (in Patna) in an act of utter disrespect to a former legislator,” he said. Singh said he was out of town to attend a wedding when the eviction took place. “They should have waited for my return. I was not begging for a house, anyway. This is not the way the Opposition should be treated,” he said. He has a family residence in Patna’s Shastri Nagar area. JD(U) chief spokesperson and MLC Neeraj Kumar said Singh failed to vacate the bungalow in the stipulated time. “Singh had moved Patna High Court to get four weeks' time to vacate the government bungalow. The court granted him four weeks, which ended on February 8. When he failed to vacate the bungalow by the stipulated period, the department concerned took action,” he said. Singh had been expelled from the Legislative Council last July based on the recommendation of the Ethics Committee of the Council. During the Council proceedings on February 13, Singh had tried to imitate the mannerisms of CM Kumar during a speech. However, Singh said at the time that he never mimicked the CM but just copied his mannerisms. He had also lost his position as chairperson of the Bihar State Co-operative Marketing Union after the episode.
