Cleric Tauqeer Raza Khan, the chief of Ittehad-e-Millat Council, who called for a protest in Bareilly supporting the ‘I love Muhammad’ campaign, was detained by police. The protests morphed into a violent clash between demonstrators and police after Friday prayers. Boeing has agreed to pay $50,000 to settle a wrongful death lawsuit brought after the suicide of a whistleblower. The case was brought by the mother of John Barnett, an ex-employee who flagged issues with the planemaker’s production practices, calling them potentially dangerous for passengers. Boeing will pay Barnett’s mother, who dropped her claims that the company contributed to her son’s death last year. Read more
In a surreal moment that stemmed from allegations of misuse of welfare payments, a man confessed on live TV that he had killed his parents. The 53-year-old New York man characterised his actions as doing his ‘duty to my parents’. This came a day after police investigators found two bodies when they went to a home as part of a fraud inquiry into Social Security payments.
