Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Sameer Wankhede on Thursday moved the Delhi High Court with a defamation suit against the portrayal of anti-drug enforcement agencies in the recently released drama series ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’. The Netflix series, which marks the directorial debut of Aryan Khan, has an anti-drug enforcement official who resembles Wankhede, who had arrested Shah Rukh Khan’s son in 2021. According to Wankhede, the series is a “misleading” and “negative” portrayal of anti-drug enforcement agencies and has sought Rs 2 crore in damages. Read more

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has been sentenced to five years in prison in connection with his alleged illegal campaign financing by Libya. The court found Sarkozy guilty of criminal association in a plot from 2005 to 2007 to fund his campaign with Libyan money in exchange of diplomatic favours. He was cleared of three other charges, including passive corruption, illegal campaign financing and concealment of embezzled public funds. Read more

According to IMD, a low-pressure system formed over the Bay of Bengal on Thursday could bring heavy rains in South 24 Parganas and Jhargram districts on September 27. A 73-year-old woman from Punjab, who has lived in the US for more than 30 years, has been deported back to India after she was detained by ICE earlier this month. The woman, Harjit Kaur, was sent back to India on a chartered flight on Tuesday, two weeks after she was detained by ICE on September 8, when she had gone for a routine check-in at the agency’s San Francisco office. Kaur migrated to the US in 1992, but her asylum bid was rejected, and a removal order was issued in 2005. Read more

'Help me edit' the new AI-powered feature that enabled users to edit images using natural language, unveiled by Google recently, will now be available to all Android users. Since it can understand natural language, users can simply type or use voice commands to tell Google Photos how they want the photo to look.
