Encounter between militants and security forces underway in J-K’s Udhampur

An encounter started between security forces and a group of militants on Tuesday in the dense forests of Udhampur district’s Basantgarh area of Jammu and Kashmir.

Sources said that the firing between the two sides started after security forces established contact with the militants who were hiding in the upper reaches of the Basantgarh area and cornered them in the forests.

DIG Udhampur of Reasi Range, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, confirmed it on his official X handle saying: “After specific input was gleaned regarding movement in the area, a SADO was launched in the wee hours today by our parties; contact has been established with a group of terrorists in Khaned area of PS Basantgarh. Ops underway @JmuKmrPolice @adgpi @crpfindia,” DIG Udhampur mentioned in a post on X.
