FYJC online admission process likely to start from May 27

Speaking about the online admission process, D B Fadtare, deputy director, Mumbai said that the online admission booklets would be made available to schools soon and would be available for students to purchase from May 27.

“After buying the booklet the students will have to use the login id and password provided with the booklet to fill up the form,” said Fadtare.

He added that the form which is in two parts has to be filled up by the students before and after getting the SSC results. “Students can fill up the first part of the form soon after getting the booklet and will be able to fill up the second part only after the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education declares the SSC exam results,” said Fadtare.

The online admission booklet will be common to students of all boards including SSC, ICSE, CBSE, IGCSE and IB.

Students seeking admission to FYJC in colleges registered on the deputy director’s list will have to fill up their preferences to the open category seats in these colleges only.

Since being started the online admission process has faced a lot of criticism and flak from various quarters due to allegations by students of being allotted seats in colleges that they have not mentioned in their preference list.

Many meritorious students have also failed to get admission in the colleges of their choice due to this problem in the past. However, Fadtare assured that most glitches in the system had been rectified and this year the admission would go off smoothly.

The first merit list under the process is expected to be released around 10 days after the SSC results are declared. In the intervening period minority institutions will have to conduct admissions to the minority, in-house and management quota. After the completion of admission under these heads institutions are required to surrender any excess seats to the deputy director that will be included in the open category for the online admission process.
