AMU member demands speedy completion of probe against V-C

AMU Court member and former MP Wasim Ahmed met HRD Minister Kapil Sibal and demanded that the probe against Aziz be completed faster.

A member of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has demanded the speedy completion of a probe into the irregularities allegedly committed by Vice Chancellor P K Abdul Aziz.

AMU Court member and former MP Wasim Ahmed met HRD Minister Kapil Sibal on Monday and demanded that the probe against Aziz be completed faster.

“I met Sibal and asked him to ensure that the probe be completed fast. It has to be completed earlier this year but a report had to be submitted. It did not happen,” Ahmed said.

HRD ministry had ordered the inquiry into a series of allegations against Aziz ranging from financial, administrative and academic impropriety. The inquiry was ordered after Aziz’s response to the show cause notice issued by the President, who is AMU’s visitor, was not found satisfactory.
