Staff and students of three city colleges were taken aback, and later, pleasantly surprised, when acting vice-chancellor (V-C) Sanjay Chahande, along with Controller of Examination (CoE) Captain CM Chitale, conducted a surprise visit to see whether the examination was being conducted properly at the colleges.
While this is a routine procedure for a CoE,the V-C accompanying him for the rounds left everyone surprised. The colleges they visited were,SP College and Waghire College in Saswad and Magar College in Hadapsar. Dilip Sheth said,It was interesting to have the V-C in our college without prior notice. It was also very inspiring to see him take so much interest in the functioning of the college. He came here around 11 am and interacted with us.
Chahande took rounds of the places where the sealed exam papers were kept, interacted with supervisors, custodians and the examination-in-charge. We also held a meeting to discuss how the central admission procedure (CAP) could be strengthened. It was also a morale booster for our staff here when the V-C came and complimented us on the work. I am sure this will inspire us to work harder, Sheth added.
Chanande said,Normally flying squads do rounds of colleges to see everything is fine. Today,I accompanied our CoE because I wanted to see for myself how things work. There is a need for senior supervisors to take their exam duties seriously and I was happy to see there were no issues at the three colleges and exams were being carried out smoothly. We have provided every college with police during exams, but there needs to be steps to curb copying. Only strict supervision can ensure that.
