Delhi HC seeks Govt’s stand on Amol Palekar’s plea over IT rules for OTT

The PIL also seeks the IT Rules 2021 be declared “ultra-vires” of the Constitution and the IT Act.

The Delhi HC Friday sought the Centre’s stand on a public interest litigation plea moved by actor-director Amol Palekar challenging the constitutional validity of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines & Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021 governing OTT platforms.

The PIL also seeks the IT Rules 2021 be declared “ultra-vires” of the Constitution and the IT Act.

A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora issued notice to the Centre and listed the matter for hearing on August 14.
