Fast, Forward
Amid the suspense over the next Delhi chief minister, a prominent face of the Delhi BJP has become a point of discussion within party circles owing to his “over-excitement” after he got elected as an MLA. As the party bagged the two-thirds majority in the Delhi Assembly, the MLA reached the official residence of a top leader, but the security guards refused to open the gate as there was no word from inside. The MLA insisted that he came only after speaking to the leader over the phone. It took some time before he was allowed to enter the residence. Party insiders say that his move did not go down well with his fellow partymen, and the top leader was also not amused by his “over-excitement”.
Minority Report
Aazad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) chief and Nagina MP Chadrashekhar Azad generally raises issues concerning Dalits, Backward Classes and Muslims. On Monday, however, he shot off a letter to the PM, demanding protection for the cultural and religious practices of the Jain community. The issues he raised concerned Mahavir Jayanti celebrations, protection of the community’s places of worship, funding for a Jain Research Unit in Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University, and facilities for Jain monks. The MP said his party works for all minorities.
