As the deep depression over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a severe cyclonic storm ‘Michaung’ today, several areas across Tamil Nadu, including the capital city of Chennai, continued to be pounded with heavy rainfall and gusty winds. The Tamil Nadu government declared a public holiday in four districts of Chennai, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, and Kancheepuram as rains disrupted normal life.
