Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy today said he has written to the Prime Minister seeking the ouster of Home Minister P Chidambaram for his alleged role in delaying the Aircel-Maxis deal to help his businessman-politician son Karti Chidambaram. Swami distributed material that he claimed was prima facie evidence against Karti Chidambaram and demanded that the CBI include Chidambaram and his son in its investigation into the sale of Aircel to Malaysia-based Maxis. Sources close to Karti described the allegations as blatant lies. Mr Swamy conveniently muddies facts and creates fiction to come up with inferences of his choosing. No company directly or indirectly held by Karti Chidambaram owns or owned in the past any equity directly or indirectly in Aircel or for that matter is any telecom company, said a source. The Supreme Court on April 24 reserved its order on whether to issue a notice to Chidambaram on Swamys plea that the minister be made a co-accused with former telecom minister A Raja in the 2G case.
