One dead, two injured in collision with speeding truck

A motorist was killed and two pillion riders injured in an accident with a truck on the Jammu-Kathua national highway near Vijaypur on Sunday.

Identifying the deceased as Ashwani Kumar, 27, a resident of Talab Tillo, police said that all the three were travelling towards Samba side from Jammu when their scooter had a head-on collision with a speeding truck coming from opposite direction at Sawankha Morh.

The truck driver fled from the spot after the accident and the victims were rushed to nearby hospital by police. While one of them died, the other two were admitted in the hospital.

The police have registered a case and seized the truck.
