Maoists kill policeman,blow up school in Jharkhand

Maoists killed a police chowkidar in Chatra district and blew up a school building in another district of Jharkhand.

Continuing their attacks,Maoists killed a police chowkidar in Chatra district and blew up a school building in another district of Jharkhand,police said on Tuesday.

The police chowkidar was killed in a gruesome act by the Maoists who descended on his house at Meral village,dragged him out and slit his throat and cut off his left hand in front of his family members last night,Chatra superintendent of police D B Sharma told newsmen in Chatra.

The body was found on Tuesday in the village along with a note by Maoists saying he was killed for being a police informer,Sharma said.

The police have launched raids to track the killers. In another incident,about 30 Maoists stuffed explosives inside a primary school at Rorad in Lohardaga district on Monday night before triggering the blast,police said.

This was the 15th school to be blown up in Jharkhand in the last two months by the Maoists to prevent security forces from taking shelter during anti-Naxal operations.

Earlier,they had blown up schools in Palamau,Latehar,Chatra,Giridih and Lohardaga districts,police said.
