Govt school teacher held for raping Class IV girl

The accused, who belongs to a neighbouring village, was teaching in the school for the last few years.

A government primary school teacher was arrested on Sunday for allegedly raping a eight-year-old student in the school at Varanasi’s Shivpur area. The victim is a student of Class IV.

While the alleged incident occurred on Thursday, the victim’s parents came to know about it on Saturday afternoon when the girl complained of severe pain in her stomach. Later, following a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother, the Varanasi Police registered an FIR against the accused teacher.

The police have recorded the victim’s statement and also sent her for medical examination.

Shivpur Station Officer Vijay Kumar Chaurasia said the teacher has confessed to the crime. “A group of teachers had visited the police station. The accused confessed to the crime before them as well,” he added.
