Girl attempts suicide before lover’s residence

A girl allegedly attempted suicide in front of her lover’s residence in Muzaffarnagar after he married another woman and refused to identify her,police said.

The incident occurred yesterday when Shalu allegedly set herself on fire in front of Vinod Kumar’s residence in the civil lines area,claiming that Vinod and she were already married and that he tied the knot a second time owing to his parents’ pressure.

The girl attempted suicide after her lover refused to identify her,they said,adding she was rushed to hospital with serious burn injuries.

Meanwhile in a separate incident,a woman allegedly committed suicide over family dispute in Shahpor village of the district yesterday.

Deepa’s husband Parvesh and his mother have been taken into custody,police said.
