Aarushi case: Court to deliver verdict on CBI closure report

Aarushi's parents have strongly opposed CBI closing the case, saying they have been cursed for life.

A special court in Ghaziabad,Uttar Pradesh, will deliver its verdict on the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) December 29 closure report on the Aarushi murder case on Friday.

The court had asked the CBI investigating officer on January 3 to bring the case diary for examination and had also dismissed an application by Aarushi’s parents,Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, for not closing the case.

The Talwars had strongly opposed CBI closing the case, saying they have been cursed for life,as the investigating agency, while appealing for closure, told the court the accused can’t be chargesheeted because of lack of evidence.

Arushi’s parents have said the closure report needs re-investigation,reiterating that it is injustice towards Aarushi. Talwars had filed an application in CBI court,Ghaziabad, asking permission from the court to oppose the report but the application was dismissed as premature and irrelevant as the court is yet to initiate hearing on the closure report submitted by the CBI.

The agency has been asked to furnish annexure and supporting documents, like the case diary, along with the report.

It maybe recalled that the CBI had named Rajesh Talwar as one of the accused.

Fourteen-year-old Aarushi and the Talwars’ domestic help Hemraj were murdered on May 15,2008,at their house in NOIDA,Ghaziabad.
