As protests continue over Chinmoy Krishna Das arrest, Tripura CM Manik Saha stresses vigil on border
At a protest near the Rangna Bazar border in Dharmanagar, an outfit called International Hindu Sena vowed to stop exports to Bangladesh if violence against minorities continues.

As protests continued on Thursday over the arrest of Hindu preacher Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari in Bangladesh, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha stressed prevention of infiltration through the international border. He also accused the Opposition CPM of double standards.
“Naturally it is an international problem. Our central leadership has already communicated and they have given their message. Along similar lines, we also say they should protect the minorities over there. I talked to the DG (director-general of police) today about ensuring that no intruders come inside,” he told reporters.
Criticising the CPM, Saha said, “They are not saying anything. They are busy with ganja and Iraq… They have not spoken a single word on the issue.”
Scheduled Caste Minister Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to extend support to the people of Bangladesh. He also urged the people to stay united to protect the state’s heritage and culture, which he said were facing a threat from “fundamentalist, Left-liberal, anti-Hindu people, like in” the neighbouring country.
“We need to keep United or else, a Bangladesh-like situation will prevail here,” Das wrote on social media. “Sages, ascetics, gurus and Vaishnavs are to be worshipped and bowed down to in sanatani Hindu religion. So, tolerating insult of such venerable sages and ascetics are the signs of cowardice and weakness. Oh sanatani Hindus, proudly say that all Hindus of the world are my family, proudly say that you all bear divine qualities. Your strength, courage, patience are needed in the current critical time. Chinmoy Krishna Brahmachariji has to be immediately released. Jai Shri Krishna.”
He had recently landed in a series of controversies over his comments.
Meanwhile, an outfit called International Hindu Sena protested near the Rangna Bazar border at Dharmanagar in North Tripura district against the Hindu preacher’s arrest and the violence against minorities in Bangladesh. The protesters said that if the atrocities against Hindus continued in Bangladesh, they would not allow the export of any essential items to that country.
“The Rangna border has been closed. If such atrocities continue, exports through other international borders will be stopped,” said a leader of the outfit.
