CCPA asks e-commerce sites to stop selling car seat belt alarm stoppers
The advisory issued by the CCPA, which was established under the Consumer Protection Act-2019, has been sent to all stakeholders including Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, and major e-commerce companies like Amazon and Flipkart.
The statement further said, “Taking into consideration the severity of the said product on the safety and precious life of consumers, CCPA referred the matter to DG Investigation (CCPA).”

The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has issued an advisory, asking manufactures and e-commerce entities not to make or sell car seat belt alarm stoppers. The CCPA has also issued an order against top five e-commerce—Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal, Shopclues and Meesho—to not allow the sale of car seat belt alarm stopper clips.
The advisory issued by the CCPA, which was established under the Consumer Protection Act-2019, has been sent to all stakeholders including Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, and major e-commerce companies like Amazon and Flipkart.
“It is hereby advised to all concerned that if any person is found violating the same, he may face actions in accordance with the CP Act, 2019,” states the advisory signed by Nidhi Khare, Chief Commissioner, CCPA.

In a statement, the CCPA said, “In view of violation of Consumer Protection Act-2019, the CCPA has issued orders against top five e-commerce platforms for selling car seat belt alarm stopper clips. The clips compromise life and safety of consumers by stopping alarm beeps when not wearing seat belts.”
The statement further said, “Taking into consideration the severity of the said product on the safety and precious life of consumers, CCPA referred the matter to DG Investigation (CCPA).”
