Caught crossing fence, Bangladeshi national detained in West Tripura

The Border Security Force (BSF) detained a Bangladeshi national at Nischintpur in West Tripura while he attempted to cross the border fence from the Bangladesh side on Monday.

Preliminary interrogation revealed he is a resident of Kishoreganj district, Bangladesh. In related operations in Sepahijala district, the BSF seized 9,800 narcotic tablets from NC Nagar and a vehicle with 11 cartons containing 6,930 mobile displays at Kamalasagar.

Three days earlier, five Bangladeshi nationals were arrested for illegal entry into India, along with two Indian touts suspected of facilitating human trafficking. The BSF has intensified surveillance at sensitive border points and launched operations against smugglers and traffickers.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) previously arrested several Tripura youths linked to human trafficking cases involving Bangladeshi and Rohingya individuals. Tripura shares an 856-km international border with Bangladesh, with some areas still unfenced due to local disputes.
