Caste census is key to revealing inequality: Rahul Gandhi

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Thursday reiterated his stand for the need for a caste census, saying it’s an “important step” to bring out the “truth of inequality”.

The Congress leader said Dr B R Ambedkar’s “dream is still incomplete”. He made the remarks in a post on social media along with a video of a conversation with former UGC chairman Sukhdeo Thorat.

Thorat is part of an 11-member committee set up by the Congress to analyse the findings of the recent caste survey in Telangana and come up with policy recommendations.

“Caste census is an important step towards bringing out the truth of this inequality, its opponents do not want to let this truth come out,” he said.
