Addressing chief ministers from BJP-ruled states on the second day of their two-day meeting — ‘Mukhyamantri Parishad’ — Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India would certainly become a developed nation if the Centre and the state governments work in unison for it. He said the “development of heritage as well as building a legacy of development were important for viksit Bharat”. All 13 chief ministers and all 15 deputy CMs of BJP-ruled states took part in the meeting, which was also attended by party president J P Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah, among others. PM Modi called for concerted efforts to make India a $5-trillion economy and to associate people with development measures. He also called for use of social media to acquaint people with government policies. The convener of the BJP's good governance cell, Vinay Sahasrabudhe, said in a release that such meetings of BJP CMs are regularly organised and this was the second such meet this year. Earlier, addressing the meet on Saturday evening, Nadda pointed out “the benefits of such meets — CMs getting to learn from the vast experience of the Prime Minister and other senior leaders, sharing their experiences in governance, and also getting the inspiration to perform better”. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan addressed the delegates on the new education policy and the expectations from states for its successful implementation. There were also presentations on specific schemes of state governments such as the village sachivalaya scheme of Uttar Pradesh, government employment initiatives of Assam, Gujarat's solar energy initiatives and Bihar's attempts to curb illegal mining.
