HITTING BACK at the Opposition for its notice on Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, the BJP on Wednesday sought to frame it as an “insult” to the Jat community and to a “farmer’s son from a humble background”. Targeting the Congress, the BJP called it a diversionary tactic to keep the spotlight away from the “connections” between the Nehru-Gandhi family and billionaire George Soros. “Today, those who talk about caste are bringing a no-confidence motion against the son of a poor farmer, Jagdeep Dhankhar. This is an insult to a farmer’s son who comes from a humble background. The Congress and its allies know that the numbers are not stacked in their favour. This notice is going to fall. But just to insult the Jat community, a party is, for the first time in the history of the Rajya Sabha, giving a notice of this kind against the Chairman,” BJP MP and spokesperson Sambit Patra said. “Jats are nationalists. They have shed their blood for the freedom of India. Today, they are making such charges against a Jat Vice-President. You are trying to humiliate him by insinuating that he is not doing his work properly. Let me tell you, a farmer’s son, a Jat, never bows his head. He will never bend, and the honour of Jats will always stay untouched in India,” he said at a press conference. “Earlier too, they used bad language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu. Now, they are doing the same with the Vice-President. I am surprised that the Congress plays the caste card. They insult an OBC PM each day. For Droupadi Murmu, a daughter of Odisha from a tribal community, the then leader of the Congress (in Lok Sabha) Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury used objectionable language. Recently, Rahul Gandhi sat in his chair before the President did. He did not even show the courtesy to remain standing while she was standing,” he said. “All this is just a ploy to save the Nehru-Gandhi family from the George Soros association,” Patra alleged. Last week, the BJP alleged in Lok Sabha that a “dangerous triangle”, comprising US billionaire investor George Soros, news portal OCCRP (Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project), and the Congress with its leader Rahul Gandhi, are trying “to derail India’s success story”.BJP rallies to his defence: Insult to Jats & farmers, bid to deflect Soros.
