‘They won in land of secularism, has to be examined critically’: As BJP breaches Kerala fortress, an admission from CM Pinarayi

In an official communication, Vijayan said the LDF did not get the expected victory: “Drawbacks will be rectified. Efforts to counter the wicked campaign against the government and to clear people’s misconceptions will be strengthened.”

Vijayan said the victory of the BJP in Thrissur is being seen seriously. “That BJP has won in a land of democracy and secularism (and it) has to be examined critically. All people believing in secularism and democracy should be ready for such a review. The government would take comprehensive and micro-level steps to keep people close to it,” he said.

Referring to the overall Lok Sabha elections results, Vijayan said it is a blow to BJP’s efforts to subvert democracy and constitutional values.

“The result shows people have rejected all the propaganda with the backing of the media, the administration, central agencies and money power. People of India have shattered BJP’s illusion that they can go ahead by raising communalism and sectarianism,” he said.
