Stepping up its attack on the Congress, the BJP on Monday accused the party and its top leader Sonia Gandhi of colluding with forces that seek to “destabilise India”.

“Whenever Parliament is in session, some report is released abroad that disrupts Parliament here. Is this just a coincidence or an organised anti-India experiment?” BJP spokesperson and MP Sudhanshu Trivedi said at a press conference at the party headquarters.

He said: “Forum for Democratic Leaders in Asia-Pacific is a non-profit organisation to promote democracy. There are four co-presidents, including Sonia Gandhi as chairperson of Rajiv Gandhi Foundation. What is this forum saying? It says that democracy is getting over in India. Regarding Kashmir, it talks about prospects for… independence in Kashmir, and interviews a member of a Pakistani think tank on the matter. The website says the financial support for this comes from Soros Foundation. George Soros is the same person who has put up 1 billion dollars to destabilise the Modi government…,” he said.

“Most humbly, we ask her (Sonia Gandhi) why she accepted the position of the FDL-AP’s co-president. What is the Congress-Soros friendship?” he added.

Claiming that the history of the Congress was one of collusion with foreign forces, Trivedi recalled that former Minister of External Affairs K Natwar Singh had, in his book, referred to a letter he wrote to Sonia Gandhi about American infiltration in Indian intelligence agencies.

“I want to ask the INDI alliance whether they are party to such activities. If some people believe they can destabilise India with foreign help, they should remember that the Narendra Modi government will not allow it,” Trivedi said.
