An ABVP delegation submitted an eight-point charter of demands to Tripura Governor Nallu Indrasena Reddy on Wednesday.

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) highlighted the ‘skewed’ student-teacher ratio in many of the colleges as well as the dearth of full-time principals, among others.

The ABVP said the shortage of faculty members in most of the departments of Tripura University was responsible for the varsity missing out on the NAAC ‘A’ grade.

ABVP activists also sought proper implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020, in colleges.

The student union said special attention should be paid to students at the primary level in all Vidyajyoti schools to make them proficient in English.

The delegation also demanded that government teachers engaged in private tuition should be identified and action must be taken against them.

“We placed some demands while meeting the Governor, like appointment of faculty members in colleges, proper implementation of the National Education Policy in colleges, and development of infrastructure in Vidyajyoti schools, among others. Governor Reddy assured us that he would look into these issues and discuss them with the state government,” said ABVP leader Sanjit Saha.
