When Life Gives You Tangerines star Park Bo Gum has been winning hearts with his real-life Gwan Sik behaviour, from sending heartfelt gifts to a young fan, to being a source of comfort for his co-star and longtime friend IU, and now helping out the crew on set. Fans are convinced he walked straight out of the drama. The incident took place during the shoot of the Netflix show in Jeju, where production was in full swing, with people running around and chaos on set. In the middle of it all, a staff member from the art team accidentally left their iPad in Bo Gum’s scene.
“He covered up for my mistake and spoke about it as if it was his fault, he took blame,” said the staff member who had been working on a clay model of Gwan Sik. The post was shared on social media alongside a video of his artwork. He was reportedly one of the three team members handling the art and direction section during the shoot. According to him, the iPad actually made it into the shot, right where Park Bo Gum’s character, Gwan Sik, was sitting. And the worst part? The scene had already been approved. But instead of pointing fingers or letting the staff get into trouble, Park Bo Gum looked at the monitor, then turned to the director and said, “I think my acting is a little awkward. Can I see the monitoring video?”
In that moment, he made it seem like the need for a retake was all on him. The iPad was never mentioned. He casually handed the device back to the staff member and even winked, saying, “Don’t worry, you didn’t get caught.” Thanks to that one small act, no one noticed the slip, and the scene was reshot. The staff later joked: “Please take responsibility, because now three of us are completely in love with you. Two of us are guys. And the third… is me.”

Not just fans, but Park Bo Gum’s co-star IU is also convinced that he’s the walking green flag. The Korean soloist recently appeared on Piaakia with Lee Dong Jin, where she opened up about what it was like working with Park Bo Gum in When Life Gives You Tangerines, and she couldn’t stop gushing about him. “From our very first scene, I didn’t feel a single bit of awkwardness or discomfort. And that was a first for me.”
IU and Bo Gum, who first collaborated for a commercial 13 years back, have maintained a friendly rapport since then. But according to the singer, this drama strengthened their bond like never before. “It was like Ae Sun realizing she had someone she could lean on. I always felt so relaxed when I looked into his eyes.” To IU, Park Bo Gum wasn’t just playing Gwan Sik, he was Gwan Sik. She said: “To me, Bo Gum on set felt even more like Gwan Sik than the script described. Seriously, it had to be him.” She continued, “He’s literally got everything. I’m so jealous. Life is really unfair.”
