Vidaamuyarchi Movie Review Highlights: Ajith’s film opens to mixed reviews, earns $300,000 in US

Vidaamuyarchi song Sawadeeka has gained traction post the release of the Ajith-starrer.

SCREEN's Avinash wrote on X, "Honestly, I didn't think #Sawadeeka was a great song. I still don't. I assumed it didn't have the necessary impact on the audience. More importantly, I thought it wasn't a dance number that would get people dancing along with it in the theatres. I was wrong. I clearly underestimated the power of #AnirudhRavichander."

Ajith-starrer Vidaamuyarchi is all set to cross the Rs 10 crore mark in India. The film has so far earned Rs 9.47 crore in India, as per trade tracker Sacnilk.

Regina Cassandra spoke about working with Ajith Kumar in  Vidaamuyarchi. She told The Hindu, "He is inclusive, aware, and understands the effect he has on people. Despite being a superstar, he doesn’t take things for granted. He has no entourage, no one fussing over him." 

Ajith Kumar's film Vidaamuyarchi has earned Rs 8 crore till 4 pm on day 1. 

Ajith Kumar's wife Shalini Ajith Kumar was seen at Chennai's famous Sathyam Theatre as she came to see the film Vidaamuyarchi with her son.

A fan shared via X, "Must say I'm a tad disappointed with #Vidaamuyarchi, a film by one of my favourite directors #MagizhThirumeni. The film is a regular commercial entertainer that is pretty ordinary for the most part. @Aravoffl, @ReginaCassandra  and @akarjunofficial  impress. The film doesn't look like it is a Magizh film except for some  segments in the first half. It looks more like an #AjithKumar film."

SCREEN reviewer Avinash Ramachandran gave Ajith Kumar-starrer 3.5 stars and wrote in his Vidaamuyarchi Review, "Magizh Thirumeni moulds Ajith Kumar into a different kind of star in a different kind of a film." Aith Kumar’s highly anticipated film Vidaamuyarchi is off to a record-breaking start in North America setting the stage for the biggest premiere of his career. As per reports the film has already crossed the $300,000 mark in advance sales.

Trisha saw her and Ajith Kumar-starrer Vidaamuyarchi's first day first show with her friends and family. A photo from the same is shared on fan page.

Reports have it that just the Tamil version of Vidaamuyarchi have sold 7,15,631 tickets. The film released in theatres on Thursday to largely positive reviews from fans. This is Ajith's first film in two years.

Even as fans are celebrating Ajith Kumar's return to big screen after two years, Vidaamuyarchi already fell victim to piracy. The film has been shared on various pirated websites in high definition formats.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk.com, day one advance sales for the Ajith Kumar-starrer Vidaamuyarchi are approximately Rs 19.28 crore.

A latest post by @venkyreviews read, "#Vidaamuyarchi is a strictly mediocre action thriller that has an interesting storyline and some decently executed twists but is narrated in a very slow manner that gets tedious at times!  The basic plot line engages with some twists and the director doesn’t deviate much by avoiding commercial elements. However, he fails to narrate it in a racy way which hampers the experience. The film is stylistically shot and production values are good. Anirudh’s music is standard and doesn’t add much to this one. Ajith does well but does not have much room in this one to see the star side of him. Just ok! Rating: 2.5/5."

According to film industry tracker AB George, the much-awaited Tamil action thriller Vidaamuyarchi has already made about Rs 29 crore plus in worldwide pre-sales. He said it was likely  to become Ajith Kumar's first Rs 50 cr opening Worldwide.

Fans are in a mood give a grand welcome the actor Ajith Kumar on the big screen as it is his first film release in two years.

The Tamil Nadu government has sanctioned special 9 am shows for actor Ajith Kumar's Vidaamuyarchi, however, fans of the actor were seen at the entrance of theatres hours in advance to celebrate the film's release. Fans in Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Karnataka also showcased their love for the actor by placing banners for the film.

Starts off slow and takes a bit of time to get into the plot but once it does, it becomes pretty interesting with some unexpected twists leading up to the interval. Ajith Kumar fans cheered, danced, and created a party-like atmosphere at the cinema halls at various locations. Huge cut-outs of Ajith Kumar decked with heavy-long garlands were placed at the theatres to celebrate the film's release.
