You have a part in this victory, sir, because I took you as a mentor. And to my fellow contestants for pushing me at every instant. Thank you everybody. I am speechless.”
The seventh season of Bigg Boss Tamil sort of brought back the glory to the reality show, which over the years has lost its sheen a bit. The season kick started on October 1 and for the past 101 days, it has provided a lot of entertainment, resulted in debates, online fan wars, and courted criticism. Even Kamal Haasan was not spared by critics of the most-watched reality show. He was blamed for taking sides and being biased towards certain participants. Though not a new criticism, this time around, the backlash was evident even to people who weren’t watching the reality show.
23 contestants participated in this season. While Bava Chelladurai’s participation was expected to make things interesting, it turned out to be a damp squib as the writer walked out of the show after just eight days. Contestants like Instagram celebrity Annaya Rao and Vijay left close to no impression on the audience as they were evicted not just once but twice from the show. The show was dominated by Maya Krishnan, Archana, Poornima, Vichitra, Jovika, Nixen, Vishnu, and Raveena.

The biggest drama of this season was the fight between the Vichitra faction and the Maya faction. With the entry of anchor Archana, things got pretty intense as she sided with Vichitra. The eviction of Pradeed of Iravi fame became a huge controversy as the actor was accused of being a threat to women. While Vichitra claimed that the eviction was unfair, the Maya faction defended their act of issuing a red card to Pradeep. Even Kamal Haasan came under severe scrutiny for evicting him without proper investigation.
The biggest change in the game structure of this season was the introduction of Small Bigg Boss house. The week’s Captain decided the people who will be sent to the side house as a sort of punishment. The small house members were not allowed to hear the voice of Bigg Boss, and they had their own ‘Chinna (Small) Bigg Boss’. On top of that, the small Bigg Boss contestants were not allowed to participate in the activities and they were made to do the cleaning and cooking work of all the participants, which, of course, led to many fights.
