Rapper Raftaar collaborated with Honey Singh during the initial phase of his career. They were a part of the rap group Mafia Mundeer, which included Badshah, Ikka and Lil’ Golu. However, the rapper decided to split from the group as he claimed he was not credited for the songs he wrote or composed. Recently, Raftaar once again spoke about how not being given credit for a creative project can affect an artiste.
While speaking to Mashable India, Raftaar said, “People think, ‘Kya hua agar ek gaane ka credit nahi diya’ (So what if you didn’t get credit for one song?). But it is not only about credit. It is the promises.” He further explained that when an artiste is promised credit, a lot of other promises are made along with it.
Sharing how he always mentions the name of each and every person who has worked on his song, Raftaar added, “In my songs, if you will see, there is a full list of credits, this person did this, that person did that. Because people who will be making songs in the future are watching and when they see which person has done which work, they hire them. So, I know people have gotten so much work after working with me.”
He added, “We are enabling each other and it is very important.”
Raftaar had earlier said that he would never work with Honey Singh again. The two had a war of words during the release of the 2014 film Fugly. Raftaar claimed that the song “Dhup Chik” was written by him, and that Honey Singh refused to give him the credit. He even refused to recognise Raftaar and said he met the rapper only once.
On Raj Shamani’s podcast, Badshah also spoke about his beef with Honey Singh. He mentioned that Honey seemed to be solely focused on his own career, and had become ‘self-centered’. Badshah said, “We made songs but they were not released. Honey was just concentrating on his career. I was associated with Mafia Mundeer since 2006, and by 2009, my parents were very worried about me. In 2011, my first song with Honey came out– ‘Get up Jawani’.”
