Mohanlal’s only son, Pranav, is working at a farm in exchange for food and stay, says his mother Suchitra: ‘He follows what he believes’

Malayalam star Mohanlal’s only son, Pranav Mohanlal, is currently working at a farm in Spain in exchange for basic food and lodging, according to his mother, Suchitra. Pranav, who likes to stay away from the media spotlight, is mostly interested in travelling and books despite being an award-winning actor himself. He made his acting debut as a child in the 2002 film Onnaman, followed by Punarjani in 2003, for which he received Kerala State Film Award for Best Child Artist. In 2018, he returned to acting with his first leading role in the film Aadhi, which went on to become the highest-earning Malayalam film of the year, but it didn’t keep him from following his passion, which is travelling the world.

In an interview with Rekha Menon, Suchitra Mohanlal revealed that Pranav is currently in Spain, farming. She added that Pranav is involved in a ‘Work Away’ program on a farm in Spain, where he works in exchange for food and accommodation. She said that Pranav values these experiences more than financial rewards, and is currently taking on tasks like caring for horses and goats.

She said, “Although people, including his cousins, often say that Pranav only listens to me, I don’t think that’s entirely true. He has his own ideas–he’s not stubborn, but he follows what he believes is right.”

Pranav was last seen in the film Varshangalkku Shesham (2024), and hasn’t publicly announced his next project. Suchitra said, “I am hearing some scripts every year, but Pranav is currently preoccupied with things other than movies.”

After delivering his first hit, Pranav achieved more success with the 2022 release Hridayam, which was also one of the highest-earning Malayalam film of that year. In a 2016 interview with Mathrubhumi, Pranav said, “There has never been a script that attracted me enough to want to live it on reel.”
